From the Music Director of the Northwest Jazz Festival
We wish to thank the well over 100 jazz musicians and jazz groups who submitted applications or sent inquiries regarding performing for the 2017 Northwest Jazz Festival. After careful deliberations by the Music Director and the Program Committee, invitations have been sent to those selected. The invitations will complete the 30 plus performances and lineup scheduled for the festival this year.
This year, the festival continues to evolve as one of the top regional jazz festival in the Northeast. The festival is excited and pleased to see the growth in interest by jazz musicians regionally, as well as nationally, as we reach our 16th year. All applicants from this year are welcome to resubmit their applications for the 2018 Northwest Jazz Festival in the fall of this year. Stay tuned for more information on this process shortly after the 2017 Northwest Jazz Festival is held on August 25 and August 26.
The Northwest Jazz Festival annual fundraiser, named A Taste of Jazz, will take place on Sunday, April 2 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Waterstreet Landing Restaurant. At the fundraiser, the festival will announce its two main headliners for the festival, as well as, announcement of some of the jazz musicians and groups scheduled for the 2017 Northwest Jazz Festival. The fundraiser will feature “sneak preview” performances by two groups scheduled for this year – The Jacob Jay Quintet and Carina & The Six String Preacher. My Cousin Tone’, the 9-piece ensemble and participant of the 2016 festival year, will also perform for the fundraiser.
