Mary McMahon Project

Saturday, August 25th  12:30pm - 2:00pm
DiCamillo Courtyard

I grew up in a very musical family. My mother, a classically trained pianist and organist spent 25 years playing the songs she loved the most, jazz standards and the Great American Songbook, at a club in Buffalo. Born in Michigan, my father performed in many musicals in that city’s theater district, wowing the critics with his beautiful tenor voice. In my twenties, and for the next 10 years, I sang with many local groups until taking a teaching position in Buffalo. Retiring after 25 years, I started singing again with My Cousin Tone and then formed my own group, the Mary McMahon Project. Both groups have performed separately at the Lewiston Jazz Festival, Musical Fare, Pausa Art House, Hotel Henry and other venues throughout the area. In 2014, I was voted Buffalo Jazz Poll’s Best Female Vocalist, and I have continued to sing the jazz standards and the Great American Songbook to audiences who love these songs as I do.
