Carolyn Lansom Quintet

Saturday. August 23, 2025 - 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm
Center Street Stage

Make sure to plan a stop at the Center Street stage to see The Carolyn Lansom Quintet! Her artistry has earned her widespread recognition, including being voted as part of the Most Memorable Performance of 2024 alongside My Cousin Tone’ at the Northwest Jazz Festival and as the leader of Dozo My Lady, crowned the Favorite Jazz/Pop Group in the 2023 and 2024 JazzBuffalo Readers Poll. Those familiar with Carolyn’s work know her exceptional talent for reimagining classic arrangements, offering something that is both nostalgic and entirely new.

The Quintet will feature:

Dave Lansom - Bass; Greg Skulicz - Guitar; Harry Graser - Piano; Jamie Sunshine - Drums; Carolyn Lansom - Vocals & Hand Percussion

With a background in theater performance from Niagara University, Carolyn’s journey into jazz was further inspired by her time in Japan, where she began honing her unique sound. Whether performing with a full band or in a small group setting, Carolyn brings a warmth and elegance to every note—drawing influence from the likes of Norah Jones, Etta James, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.

See her perform monthly with her group Dozo My Lady, at their monthly residency every 2nd Friday at the Buffalo Distilling Company, which has been going strong since April 2018. Dozo My Lady features: Carolyn on vocals, Dave Lansom, her husband, on bass, and Greg Skulicz on guitar. This trio plays seamlessly with incredible dynamics and feel,  like they have played music together for most of their lives.  Well, that’s because they have. Now, with the addition of Harry Graser on Piano and Jamie Sunshine holding the rhythm strong, this Quintet will shine on the Northwest Jazz Festival Center Street Stage

In past years, you may have heard her in the peach garden. 2025 is the year to see her name on the Center Street stage. Her stunning vocal range will captivate you, the musicians sharing the stage with her will impress you, and together you’ll watch the Carolyn Lansom Quintet infuse timeless jazz standards with fresh interpretations and still honoring the Great American Songbook. We hope you like it!
