The Back Room Jazz Band was formed in the Spring of 2010 by
four friends to get together occasionally and have a great time
playing Dixieland and Traditional Jazz. The band has grown to
six members. They found a monthly home and played at
Wallenwein’s Hotel in East Aurora, NY.
The band had their optional 2020-2021 “Concert Series” at
outdoor public parks like Chestnut Ridge in Orchard Park,
Niawanda Park in Tonawanda, and even the Grand Island
Welcome Center off the 190. We were determined to safely
keep the music going. It was a blessing to see so many of our
friends come out and safely listen to live music during this hard
time.
The band has played at Kenmore Porchfest, The Taste of
Buffalo, Village of Hamburg Sesquicentennial Celebration, Miss
Buffalo, Jack Rabbit, Pellicano’s Vineyard, Hamburg Brewery,
Southerntier Distillery (Lakewood,NY), Queen CityJass Society
(Buffalo), Flower City Jazz Society (Rochester) and many other
popular venues. The band is once again the 3rd Wednesday of
every month at Wallenwein’s Hotel to bring the great sounds of
Dixieland, Trad Jazz and swing to our existing and new lovers of
the music we play and also love.
Fred Lenz and Dan Priore are two of the original members.
Rounding out the band are John Anderson, Mark Panfil, Mike
Teager and Ray Skalski, have been playing with the band for
quite a while.
